ENMA
students participate on project teams which are focused on applying ENMA course
materials to real-world applications.
Projects are drawn from university research or industry sources. This web site provides an overview of

Sponsorship
The
following provides an overview of industry sponsorship of ENMA student team
projects. A one-page summary can be
found here.
Need for Industry Sponsors
- ENMA courses initiate 4-8
project teams per semester.
- ENMA program needs a steady
stream of relevant projects.
- Projects need sponsors in
the “real world”.
- Project teams need to be running
by third week of class.
- Chasing around 4-8 project
sponsors every semester is a major constraint to the program.
- It would be beneficial to
have a process for generating a steady stream of industry sponsored
projects.
Ideal Student Team Project
- Area that the sponsor really
cares about, and that will make a difference to the sponsor when
completed…
- But that the sponsor does
not have resources for and just realistically won’t get around to doing…
- And is not on the sponsor’s
critical path.
- Area that requires use of
“engineering management” skills…
- But is not a technical
research project…
- And can produce
deliverables in 1 semester (carry-over to following semesters is
possible).
Sponsor’s Role
- Assist team in
defining/outlining project.
- Provide voice-of-the-customer
input (what to do)…
- And also technical input
(how to do it).
- Be available to teams for ~6
hours over 12 weeks, more is acceptable!
- Assist in evaluating project
deliverables (instructor provides evaluation forms).
- Attend final presentation (where
possible).
- Assist in identifying future
projects and sponsors.
Intellectual
Property Protection
It is
anticipated that intellectual property will be generated during the course of
project work. This will require
completion of at least a Marquette University invention disclosure. The following links assist in this process.
