Arena Simulation
Software
Rockwell
Automation’s Arena simulation
software provides a comprehensive suite of tools and a graphical interface for
creating models which simulate the flow of entities through a system. The types of simulations that can be
developed using software such as Arena can be essential to designing and
implementing quality and efficiency improvements in manufacturing and business
systems. Development and application of
system simulations is an essential element of system design and analysis.

Arena Tutorials

Learning about
process simulation can feel like drinking water from a fire hydrant. Learning how to use simulation software at
the same time can feel like drowning in a sea of information. These Arena tutorials provide a parallel path
to the extensive documentation provided by Arena developers and users that will
allow new Arena users to get up and running as fast as possible. Consider these tutorials as water-fountains
of information on process simulation, the purpose being to provide an introduction
and gradual expansion of skills in using simulation tools and the Arena
simulation software.
The
tutorials are based on the free student version of Arena. The first tutorial
describes where to find this software and how to download and install the
software.
Running the Tutorials
and Assignments
The
Arena tutorials, associated assignments, and assignment solutions are accessible
on the ENMA 6010 schedule website. Individual tutorial .ppt files, audio narration,
and associated assignments are zipped together in the .zip files linked on the
schedule.
To
run a tutorial, click on the link to the tutorial and save the linked .zip file
to your computer. This saves the
tutorial .ppt document and all the audio narration files to your computer. Of course, a wise thing to do is to create a
separate folder for each tutorial, so that you can unzip each tutorial in its
own folder. You can then view the slide
show with audio, and print out the slides and speaker notes.
Assignment
solutions will be made available on the course schedule after assignments are
due, and are .zip files that you can unzip into the same folder that contains
the associated tutorial. The solution
.zip files contain a .ppt with the solution to the assignment, and also the
Arena model used to prepare the solution.
Due
dates for assignments are shown on the Arena tutorial schedule. All assignments must be placed in the appropriate
D2L tutorial drop-box by the due date.
Since the tutorial assignments are available to all students before the
first day of class, late submissions will not be accepted except in cases of
extreme personal hardship (1-week grace period for first assignment will be
provided).
