ENMA 6040: Lean Manufacturing

 

Educational Objectives

 


Commensurate with the primary knowledge/skill/experience areas covered in the class, students completing this course should be able to:

 

  1. Characterize and evaluate an existing or planned manufacturing or business system according to custom, mass, and lean paradigms,
  2. Model the as-is operation of a system using process flow diagrams, value stream maps, and system simulation tools,
  3. Identify flow, waste, and work-in-process issues in a system,
  4. Recommend lean-based to-be improvements to a system,
  5. Develop appropriate metrics to evaluate the results of lean-based improvement efforts.
