ENMA 278: Lean Manufacturing

 

Educational Objectives

 


Commensurate with the primary knowledge/skill/experience areas covered in the class, students completing this course should be able to:

 

  1. Characterize and evaluate an existing or planned manufacturing or business system according to custom, mass, and lean paradigms,
  2. Model the operation of a manufacturing system using appropriate tools,
  3. Identify flow, waste, and work-in-process problems in a manufacturing system,
  4. Recommend lean-based improvements to a manufacturing system,
  5. Apply appropriate metrics to evaluate the results of lean-based improvement efforts.

 

Students will demonstrate capabilities in these areas primarily through presentations and written reports related to specific team projects.
